France obtains the go ahead to develop super-soldiers

In what can only be reminiscent of a futuristic sci-fi movie, the French Army has announced it had been granted permission from a military ethics committee to develop: “augmented soldiers,” who will have bionic abilities such as being resistant to pain, able to stay awake for long periods of time and a heightened sense of hearing.

Research is also in progress into implants that would enable army headquarters to read soldiers’ “physiological parameters” from a distance or locate them on the battlefield.

The French Minister of the armed forces, Florence Parly, said France isn’t preparing to implant microchips into its soldiers immediately.

However, Ms Parly did not rule out the use of microchips implanted in the future. Ms Parly said: “But we have to be clear. Not everyone has our scruples and it is a future for which we have to be prepared.”

The approval from the ethical committee of the armed forces, said in a report that France needed to keep up with countries that were already working to produce super-soldiers.

US director of national intelligence, John Ratcliffe, previously mentioned that China is already attempting to find ways to make artificially enhanced soldiers and has already started testing.
He stated, “there are no ethical boundaries to Beijing’s pursuit of power.”
